As a young child, growing up in Baltimore City, Darrell learned early on about the value of persistence,
resilience and grit. His mother, an Army nurse, would always remind him, "Mind over matter - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter."
At 17, he was accepted to Morehouse College, the alma mater of Dr. King. That next year, as a sophomore, he wrote his first book, Daring to Be Different: 25 Tips for a Life of Success.
In 2007, Darrell graduated from Morehouse College as valedictorian. In 2010, he graduated from Harvard Law School as class marshal. Shortly thereafter, he moved to New York City, where he would eventually become an attorney, university professor and business owner.
Darrell has had an incredible life story and has openly shared his experience of strength, hope and transformation with audiences around the world. In 2019, he released his newest and most transparent work yet, Come. Back. Swinging.: A True Story of Resilience and Redemption. Following the success of the book, Darrell created Come Back. Swinging.™, a series of trademarked high-impact products and services dedicated to helping people bounce back from adversity, personally and professionally, re-build, re-position and reemerge more successful.
Today, Darrell continues to encourage, empower and educate audiences around the world. He lives in New York City and is a managing partner of The B-Squared Global Group.
